Zune Accessories 50% Off

With the recent retirement announcement for the current Zune models, it doesn’t surprise me that Microsoft is selling Zune accessories at 50% off. So if you’re looking at getting some accessories for your Zune, here are some items for sale:
- Zune Premium Headphones $19.99 ($39.99)
- Zune Home AV Pack $29.99 ($59.99)
- Zune Leather Case 4/8 GB $14.99 ($29.99)
- Zune Car Pack $34.99 ($69.99)
- Zune Dock Pack $19.99 ($39.99)
- Zune AC Adapter $14.99 ($29.99)
- Zune Cable Pack $14.99 ($29.99)
Although these accessories are for the current, recently discontinued Zunes, items such as the Premium headphones and AC Adapter should also work for the new Zune HD devices. I really like the Premium headphones, so I might order another set at this reduced price.
Black Friday is just around the corner!
The day after Thanksgiving in the US is “Black Friday”, the biggest shopping day of the year. But with the depressed economy and numerous people out of work, will stores have any good deals? And, is it worth the long pre-dawn lines for that discounted blackfriday laptop?
Speaking of laptops, check out this comment by a person who purchased a Best Buy extended warranty and tried to have is damaged laptop replaced. I don’t recommend getting an extended warranty for any electronics, but if you do make sure you carefully read the terms and conditions (don’t trust what the store or sales rep tell you). You might also considering making your purchase using a credit card that extends the manufacturer’s warranty or provides its own replacement warranty.
Of course, I’m staying far away from stores on Black Friday and will be taking it easy at home, recovering from a giant Thanksgiving Day feast!
Free Videos on the Zune Marketplace
If you haven’t noticed yet, the Zune Marketplace has some free TV shows that you can download on your Zune. I’m sure it’s a promotional thing, so they probably won’t be free for too much longer. I was able to download an episode of The Office, Battlestar Galactica, and Heroes. I’m not a big fan of The Office, but hey, it’s free and you shouldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth!
Update: BTW, there are actually several videos you can download for free from the Zune Marketplace (not just the three I mentioned above). I scanned through all the available shows yesterday, and most of them had one free episode available for download. Also, the video podcasts (which are always free) had lots of new videos for download, so that is definitely worth checking out.
Free MP3 Music From Amazon.com
Amazon’s MP3 site has several music files available for free download. Go to this page and click the link labeled “Free Songs and Special Deals” to access the no-cost, free MP3 music files. They state they have over 1000 songs available for free, so it is worth checking out.
Good Deal on Earbuds from Buy.com
I came across this good deal for some nice earbuds at Buy.com. The Maximo iM-390 iMetal Isolation Earbuds have a lightweight aluminum alloy body, and appear to have several good user reviews on Buy.com. List price for these earbuds is $39.99 US, but they selling for $19.79 with free shipping. If you use Google Checkout, you can get an additional $10.00 off which brings the total cost to $9.79 US. A great deal for $40 ear buds! In addition, you’ll get 50 free music downloads from eMusic. Definitely worth checking out.

Microsoft Zune Giveaway

From now until March 31st, Microsoft is giving away one Zune every day in a new contest. To enter, you need to log into your Hotmail email account using your web-enabled phone and send Microsoft an email from your phone. If you don’t have a Hotmail account, it forces you to create one, and also makes you send an email from your phone. It might be worth doing if you want to enter to win a free Zune!
Zune Premium Earbuds for Sale at Buy.com
Buy.com has great bargains for Zune accessories, and they currently have the Zune Premium Earbuds going for $12.24 US. They also have the Round Zune Dock for $14.24 US and AC Adapter for $12.24 US, all great prices. If you’ve never used Google Checkout with Buy.com, you can use that feature and get an additional (1-time) discount of $10.00 US.
Note, that I have the Premium Earbuds for my Zune 80 and I really like them. They fit snuggly inside my ear and it seems to block out any exterior noise. Although I haven’t tested them on an airplane flight, I’m sure they will do much better at blocking out jet noise than my old cheapy “outside” earbuds!
Zune 30 gb Going for $60 at CompUSA
I’ve read some forum postings stating that CompUSA is selling their Zune 30 gb for $60 US. Apparently, it’s an in-store price so you can’t get this deal online (from what I’ve been told). The deal sounds incredible (since I just saw one at Fred Meyer’s going for $199 US), but it’s plausible since CompUSA is going out of business. It’s been confirmed by a few different people, so I believe these postings are true. So, if you want to pick up a 1st generation Zune for $60, then head over to CompUSA. If I didn’t already own a Zune 80, I’d certainly get one!
[Updated: 11 Jan 2008] - It seems that the $60 Zunes are not available at all CompUSA stores, but only selected ones. A few people have reported visiting their local stores and find the $60 Zunes, while others report only seeing a 10% discount off the $199.99 list price. So, if you find one consider yourself lucky!
